The student will be placed with a volunteer host family/families for the duration of the student's program. The host family will provide sleeping accommodation, meals in the home and, at the family's option, lunch for school. Meals away from home, school lunch fees, and transportation to and from school are not provided by the partner or the host family. Transportation to and from school from a location near the host family's home may be by public transportation or provided by the school that the student attends.
The student will be enrolled in an Australian secondary school. The designation of the year level the student will attend, class schedule and year-end attendance recognition is solely at the discretion of the school in which the student is enrolled. Students are never enrolled into Year 12 in July and subject choice may be restricted. The student must pay for school books, uniform, subject fees or levies, and any other fees charged by the school for extracurricular activities or sports programs.
Our partner in Australia will provide an online orientation for students to access with or without their coordinator. The coordinator will always meet with the student within two weeks of arriving at their host family's home in Australia.
Each student is required by the Australian Government to purchase the national health insurance plan – Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC), so the price is included in the general program fee. This plan only covers the student while in Australia. If additional coverage is required for travel, public liability or specialists visits (non-emergency), it should be purchased before the student arrives in Australia and details sent to us. We strongly recommend the purchase of a separate policy.
AASES (Acceptance Advice for Secondary Exchange Students) forms are provided by the government to our partner for student to obtain a 571 visa for the duration of the program, upon confirmation of host family/school and full payment of the program fee.
