Host Family Placement

The student will be placed with a volunteer host family/families for the duration of the student's program. The host family will provide sleeping accommodation, meals in the home and, at the family's option, lunch for school. Meals away from home, school lunch fees, and transportation to and from school are not provided by the partner or the host family. Transportation to and from school from a location near the host family's home may be by public transportation or provided by the school that the student attends.

School Enrollment

The student will be enrolled in an Australian secondary school. The designation of the year level the student will attend, class schedule and year-end attendance recognition is solely at the discretion of the school in which the student is enrolled. Students are never enrolled into Year 12 in July and subject choice may be restricted. The student must pay for school books, uniform, subject fees or levies, and any other fees charged by the school for extracurricular activities or sports programs.

An orientation session will be provided for the student shortly after arrival and a pre-departure orientation takes place in the home country.

Our partner in Australia will provide an online orientation for students to access with or without their coordinator. The coordinator will always meet with the student within two weeks of arriving at their host family's home in Australia.

Student Supervision

The student/host family developing relationship is supervised by a coordinator. Progress reports from student, coordinator and host family are provided to the Referring Contractor. The coordinator will request the student completes and returns orientation, quarterly and end of program reports. A 24-hour emergency phone number is provided to students, host parents and referring contractors.

Student Health Insurance

Each student is required by the Australian Government to purchase the national health insurance plan – Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC), so the price is included in the general program fee. This plan only covers the student while in Australia. If additional coverage is required for travel, public liability or specialists visits (non-emergency), it should be purchased before the student arrives in Australia and details sent to us. We strongly recommend the purchase of a separate policy.
